Should you take a product home and inspect the purchase you are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
How does one determine if the product is right for them without opening the box and inspecting?
I purchased a laptop computer for my daughter, she looked at it and determined that another model would suit her needs better. The purchase was never used.
Now even if you decided to purchase another model from Circuit City, the fee still applies. You can only trade for the same model.
I will never purchase from them again and hope many many people read this complaint.
What a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!

Written by JJ, on 08-09-2008 14:58 I work in the world of retail and THE reason you are charged a fee is simply because retailers have been stuck with returns and abused by people just to burn a CD, etc. It's amazing to me how half of America can walk and chew gum at the same time. I'm more than sure that this guy knew the policy before he returned it. I agree, he should have taken his daughter to the store because obviously he knows nothing about computers!!!!!!!!!!!! |

All stores have one with major electronics. We can't sell something open as "new". It has to be open box. You people need to learn how retail works, or just learn how staying profitable works. Laptops are already sold at an insane loss to the store. |

| 6. Written by Steve, on 11-05-2008 22:22 I dunno...I think that if you're making a major purchase such as a computer or a tv, you should probably do your research before going out and buying the cheapest laptop. If you have no idea what the laptop is going to be, you shouldn't have even though about buying it in the first place. Would you buy a car blindly over the web? Hopefully not. Then why would you purchase something that you're going to trust with all your personal info and music and movies without seeing it first. Dumb consumerism, if you ask me. And on the restocking fee...by you cutting that factory seal, no retailer can legally sell it new. That store takes an $200 hit on any opened laptop that's returned in working condition. It's right there on the reciept. |
